Welcome to Chromythica
East of the Whisperwood, nestled in the foothills of the Aspodell Mountains, lies the city of Brastlewark. Many who find themselves there for the first time will think it an odd city, a gallimaufry of architectural styles, colors, and streets that turn suddenly into small twisting alleyways. The uninformed traveler might wonder at the chaotic spread of the city, but those who take the time to linger in this strange place will soon learn that Brastlewark is a place of creation, innovation, and constant change. After all, the experience of new things is valued above almost any other virtue in gnomish culture.
The discerning traveler will also note that Brastlewark is home to the largest gnome settlement in all the Inner Sea region (and possibly in all of the world).
More than a century ago, an enterprising gnome called Drum Thornfiddle forged an alliance with Her Infernal Majestrix Queen Abrogail I of Cheliax, gaining the Queen’s permission to build a gnomish city in the east of Cheliax. Many have whispered about what Her Infernal Majestrix may have required of Thornfiddle and certain of his associates in return, but if there are secrets to be told, none have yet discovered them.
As it so happens, the Festival of Flight is only days away. If you were only passingly familiar with the normal goings-on in Brastlewark, you might think preparations were fine and dandy and all is well in the city. But there is more afoot in Brastlewark than even the wise might guess…
